description
Works are being procured for habitat enhancement to the ponds and watercourses in Tudor Grange Park and Hillfield Park, both on the western side of central Solihull, to improve their ecological condition. Match funding grant applications have been approved for these works via three separate European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Small Habitats Grant (SHG) applications. The first was named 'Frogs & Logs' in 2021 which was for a suite of works to improve habitat and biodiversity in Solihull urban areas, and a proposed contract for Pond & Brook Enhancement in Tudor Grange Park was included. This was followed in 2021 by a separate SHG application for Alder Brook, for naturalisation of the brook in Tudor Grange Park immediately downstream of the pond. Another SHG application was approved in 2022 named 'Hedges & Sedges' for works in Hillfield Park, which included similar proposed works to the pond and watercourses there.
The aggregate overall budget for the SHG grants is formed by 60% Solihull MBC funds and 40% match funding from ERDF. The budgets identified in the separate SHG projects are as follows: Frogs & Logs Pond & Brook Enhancement works £159,306; Alder Brook Enhancement works £65,167; Hedges & Sedges (Hillfield Park) Pond & Brook Enhancement works £171,082.74. Total value of combined works £395,555.74.
This tender is for the combined Tudor Grange & Hillfield Parks Pond & Brook Enhancement works as identified in the SHG agreements for Frogs & Logs, Alder Brook, and Hedges & Sedges, works which are all programmed to take place in September to October 2022, with a rectification period to the end of February 2023.

CSW-JETS is a sub-regional e-tendering portal run by In-tend. Since February 2010, Coventry; Solihull; Warwickshire; Nuneaton and Bedworth; Rugby alongside other local district Councils have been working together as a shared procurement service. Registration is free, and takes just a few minutes.
