CP1285-16 Deep Lane South Site Investigations

Ground Investigation; scope below.

Percussively driven boreholes - Approximately 20 No. exploratory holes positioned at 100m centres along the length of proposed works with increased frequency/substitution at strategic locations such as areas of cutting/ retaining walls/ embankment.

Rotary coring - Continued from the base of percussive holes; No. to be confirmed based on strategic locations and ground conditions encountered.

Trial pitting/trenching - Approximately 15 No. exploratory holes positioned at 50m centres, predominantly within the area of the proposed park and ride.

In-situ soakaway testing - To be undertaken within selected trial pits in accordance with BRE365, as determined by proposed drainage layout (assume 5 No. locations).

CBR testing - Approximately 35 No. tests positioned at 100m centres along the length of proposed roadway and/or within the area of proposed park & ride.

Existing carriageway cores and DCPs.

Geotechnical & geo-environmental laboratory testing - Extensive suite of testing, to be determined by engineer based on strata encountered.

The contractor will produce the factual component only of a Ground Investigation Report (GIR) in accordance with Appendix D of HD 22/08 (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges Vol. 4 Section 1).
