description
The Provider will deliver a liaison service within Nottingham University Hospitals supporting hospital clinical staff to identify and respond appropriately to substance misusing patients on wards and in the Emergency Department (ED). The Provider will deliver brief and structured treatment to patients in Nottingham University Hospitals. The Provider will assertively engage those leaving hospital into community substance misuse services.
The service will deliver the following key elements within the setting of Nottingham University Hospitals:

| • | Brief interventions and advice for substance misusers |
| • | Pharmacological interventions for substance misusers |
| • | Ensure continuity of substance misuse related care/treatment upon discharge from hospital |
| • | Training and up-skilling of hospital staff in relation identification and brief advice of substance misusers |
The service will ensure that there is timely and easy access to treatment appropriate to the patient’s needs; this will include the provision of appropriate interventions for all levels of problematic drinking including binge drinking, increasing and higher risk drinking, alcohol dependency, poly-substance misuse, complex needs and primary drugs misuse.
The service will provide training to ensure the Nottingham hospital clinical workforce is equipped to identify alcohol misuse and offer brief advice and signposting into treatment.
The service will be pro-active in health promotion within the hospital to reduce the prevalence of binge drinking, increasing risk and higher risk alcohol misuse amongst the Nottingham City population.
The service will work with partner agencies to identify, motivate and engage those groups presenting to hospital who are treatment resistant or have not identified that their drinking or substance use is becoming problematic.

The duration will be for 5 years, with a possible extension of 1+1 years at the council's discretion
