The A580 East Lancashire Road phase 1 scheme is part of Liverpool City Council's investment and maintenance programme to upgrade and enhance strategic routes within the City Counci'sl boundaries. The section of phase 1 under consideration is between its junctions with the B 5187 (Stopgate Lane) and the Showcase Cinema Retail Development (Approx. 1.7km in length)
The proposed works include:-

| • | Installation of Loop Detectors |
The objectives for this project are:-
| • | To improve road safety for both road users and the local community. |
| • | To support regeneration in the area. |
The Works Contract shall carry out the following:-
| • | Resurfacing along the A580 from Stopgate Junction to Showcase Cinema Junction |
| • | New road markings and road studs. |
| • | Installation of Loop Detectors at all junctions from Stopgate Junction to Showcase Cinema Junction. |
