Swindon Borough Council invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced service providers for the provision of a closed road cycling circuit, learn to ride area and car park re surfacing. This project is for the construction of a regional standard cycling closed road circuit, learn to ride area and refurbishment of the existing car park, at Moredon Multi Sports Hub, Swindon. The Moredon Multi Sports Hub is situated close to Swindon Town Centre, and is a busy site with many existing users. The cycling closed road circuit is intended to form part of a wider scheme of improvements in the immediate vicinity, including a new pavilion, BMX track and a full size 3G AGP which are being procured separately. The cycling closed road circuit and learn to ride area are to be located immediately adjacent to the sites car park with direct access to new pavilion and the main sports facilities on the site. The cycling closed road circuit is to have a completion loop of circa 1km with a number of internal loops and cross over points to enable a minimum of 3 separate groups to use the track concurrently on occasion. The learn to ride offer is to cater for younger riders from balance bikes onwards. The cycling closed road circuit is to feature:

  • Asphalt surfacing• Specialist metal perimeter fencing• Sports lighting•Start finish/commissars area

The Moredon Multi Sports Hub project is enabled by funding from Sport England/British Cycling's 'Places to Ride Programme' and the Football Foundation. All proposed schemes are to ensure that the facility proposed is well designed and limits the opportunity for vandalism or antisocial behaviour.The designs should demonstrate ease of maintenance, with easy access to serviceable parts.
