description
Warwickshire CC wishes to test the market to identify other services, that have a strong peer reviewed evidence base, can sustain and transform food culture and that works towards reducing the rise in obesity in children, young people and early years' settings across Warwickshire. WCC will use this information to inform and shape the specification for future service provision.
Warwickshire are looking for a provider to help us meet the Government's priority on Childhood Obesity: A plan for Action 2017 to halt the rising tide in obesity across the UK. WCC's Director of Public Health is committed to this priority agenda by taking a preventative, early intervention life course approach so that children, their families and wider communities, living in Warwickshire, have the best chance of maintaining a healthy weight and minimising the risk of obesity related disease later in life.
This incorporates three key areas of activity:
- Transforming catering by enabling and empowering schools, early years and caterers to undertake healthy, sustainable and ethical food procurement.
- Adopting a whole school approach by providing opportunities, skills and confidence within the school community.
- Strategic activities via engaging key stakeholders within the Health, Education and Catering sectors to implement a holistic community approach.
To take part in the market testing please download and complete the market testing pack and return to us by 13th August 2018.
