description

The West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges (WYCC) aims to continue to align itself to the fast changing economic and social environment in which it operates whilst ensuring it provides a skills offer to that meets market demand. WYCC is now actively seeking partners to express interest to act as a sub-contracting delivery partner for the following ESIF Tender Call “Skills Support for In Work Claimants” in Leeds City Region. The WYCC will be submitting a bid to specifically target individuals in low-paid employment who are highly unlikely to receive employer-supported skills development and provide them with in-work support with the aim of leading to greater earnings in the future and aligning it to the findings of the ‘More jobs, better jobs’ project, funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. More specifically the WYCC will deliver:

  1. Mentoring, support and advice (through one to ones or via group sessions where a number of individuals are in the same company) for people who are employed or under-employed, and in receipt of means tested benefits to help them understand their options for progression with their current employer or elsewhere;
  2. Signposting to funded support for training (e.g. Further Education/Higher Education loans);
  3. Accredited and non-accredited training to help individuals improve their skills, ultimately leading to higher earnings and reduced benefit dependency;
  4. Support for Literacy - including ESOL and financial literacy - to address the wider social inclusion agenda, numeracy and ICT skills;
  5. An employer brokerage role – linking participants with employers.
