West Midlands Association of Directors of Public Health (WMADPH) conducted work in 2019/20 to look at equality, diversity and inclusion in the specialist public health workforce in local authorities across the West Midlands. This work identified a need from specialist public health staff for training to support them in deeper understanding of diverse communities in the region. This was echoed in the recent Birmingham and Lewisham African and Caribbean Health Inequalities review which highlighted the need for culturally specific training.

The WM ADPH is seeking to commission activity in five lots to explore different approaches to meeting this training needs across the region.

Sandwell Council are undertaking this procurement on behalf of the WM ADPH

The Lots are as follows:

  • Lot A: Deeper understanding of African and African Caribbean culture and communities for Public Health specialist practitioners
  • Lot B: Commissioning for Diversity and Inclusion in Public Health
  • Lot C: Deeper understanding of Islamic culture and communities for Public Health specialist practitioners
  • Lot D: Managing and working in multi-cultural public health specialist teams
  • Lot E: Deeper understanding of Deaf and Hearing-impaired culture and communities for Public Health specialist practitioner
