Community Microsuction Services

NHS NEW Devon is looking to commission a Community based Microsuction Service. Below are the key critical success points that should form basis of any bid for these services.

• The Ear microsuction services are currently a nurse led activity delivered in secondary care for patients across the Northern, Eastern and Western Devon CCG area.

• The commissioning intention is to create high-quality, cost-effective Community Microsuction Service delivered in community settings covering the same geographical areas.

• Based on the current provision NHS NEW Devon has assumed a nurse led service but ask that other suitable health professionals should register their interest.

• In regard to the workforce requirement for the service provison, the suitable health professional should have an ENT diploma and a suitably qualified ENT mentor (verified by commissioner) to provide clinical supervision or the health professional should be trained, be approved as competent (which is agreed with commissioners) and have a suitably qualified ENT mentor (verified by commissioner) to provide clinical supervision.

• The commissioner requires the provider to offer a clinic slot with complete treatment episode for the non-tariff price of £35.

• There is an emphasis on the reduction in the use of Secondary Care providers in order to increase both patient access and value for money.
