description

The learning disability and autism team are working with partners at NHSE to explore the potential to design and commission a national programme of Autism Peer Education.

This project will seek to consolidate Health Education England's view that families and carers are an integral part of the workforce and should be able to access to high quality education and training.

It will build on a successful nationally funded HEE autism peer education pilot project that has been undertaken in Manchester and develop this further to provide a national offer for autism peer education. This offer would be equally accessible in all regions of England through the provision of autism education resources to families, personal assistants, and small independent care providers

This work will directly underpin the aims in the Department of Health National Strategy for Autistic Children, Young People and Adults and NHS Long Term Plan. Specifically, it will support the National Strategy aims
