description

Researchers at the Department of Addictions, King’s College London, and Institute for Social Marketing, University of Stirling, are seeking to evaluate smokers’ response to new tobacco control policies. The main policy of interest is standardised (or plain) cigarette packaging, where all cigarettes will come in drab brown coloured packs with large health warnings. This is due to be implemented from May 20th 2016. The researchers will be using a longitudinal survey, to be conducted before and after the introduction of standardised packaging, to evaluate the impact, if any, on smokers. The researchers have extensive experience in designing longitudinal questionnaires for online administration. Although the times that surveys must be administered (fieldwork dates) are subject to change, Wave 1 is planned for April 2016, and Wave 2 for June 2017.
