description
St George's Hall has been awarded a grant of by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) as a contribution towards income streams that have been lost as a direct result of Covid. Of that grant a maximum budget of £185k has been set aside for the design, install and maintenance of a Digital Immersive Experience with the Hall.
The proposal sent to DCMS outlines the creation of an immersive digital experience within the iconic St George's Hall, to enable the venue to fully develop and contribute towards its commercial self-sufficiency, as well as significantly boost the local economy via secondary and tertiary streams of income to the Hall, its St Georges Quarter CIC partners and wider city region.
To try and combat the financial loss for 2020-21, St George's Hall is seeking to create a digitised immersive experience, set within its historic Victorian court-rooms and prison cells, as well as the basement area and other useable public spaces, which will bring to life, the social history of Liverpool, mapped through the eyes of St George's Hall.
This immersive digital experience will be a visitor attraction in its own right, attracting visitors to Liverpool and to the Hall, who will be able to encounter Liverpool's rich historical content, bringing a significant addition to the local economy.
