Brief Description of Requirement

We would like to commission a review that seeks to better understand and capture learning from the methodological innovations taking place in social science research in ESRC-led grants funded through the UKRI COVID Rolling Call . This will give us a more comprehensive picture of the different types of innovation that have come out of changed methodological practices and may help to shape priority areas for future investment in methodological development and innovation.

The objectives for this review are to:

Identify the methodological innovations that have taken place in ESRC-led projects funded through the UKRI UKRI COVID Rolling Call
Understand those innovations of value in an emergency context (such as a pandemic) and those innovations likely to have a lasting impact on how we undertake social science research
Develop case studies showcasing high-impact methodological innovations
Understand the extent to which these innovations have been shared with the wider social science research community
Identify training and capacity building opportunities to raise awareness of and increase uptake of innovations
Identify areas of methodological innovation that require further development to maximise their impact and that would benefit from further research funding
