description

Surrey County Council are looking for a Bidder interested in running the programme Time to Change - Surrey

Time to Change - Surrey is a local campaign delivering similar aims and objectives (below) to the national Time to Change campaign, through partnership work with statutory and voluntary mental health organisations, service users and carers in Surrey:

  1. To improve understanding of and positive attitudes towards mental health
  2. To reduce the stigma and discrimination experienced by people with a mental health problem, their family and/or carers (and encouraging people to talk about mental health)
  3. To increase the confidence and ability of people with mental health problems, their family and carers to address discrimination.

Time to Change Surrey reaches out to businesses, colleges and communities, to people from different backgrounds, cultures, faith, age, gender and sexuality. Some of the ways we have piloted in Surrey and proved effective in doing this are:

  • oWorkshops, presentations and conversations about mental health with members of the public by local Champions (people living directly/indirectly e.g. carers, with mental ill health.
  • oLive dramas created (based on the experiences of people in Surrey), performed by professional actors (with experience of mental health) and using forum theatre techniques.
  • oDrama based training sessions that include practical guidelines on spotting symptoms of mental ill health, helping someone and signposting to appropriate organisations/resources.

The contract will be for 2 years, with a total value of ?90,000.00
