The Accelerator Science and Technology Centre (ASTeC) at STFC Daresbury Laboratory is currently building a new FEL test facility, CLARA - the Compact Linear Accelerator for Research and Applications. The facility will be used for research into efficient FEL schemes to produce ultra-short pulses of high-brightness coherent light.

The CLARA Conceptual Design Report (CDR) was published in July 2013, and can be found on the ASTeC website: http://www.stfc.ac.uk/ASTeC/resources/PDF/CLARA_CDRv2.pdf.

The electron beamline will transport an electron beam from the 6 MeV gun, through a series of linacs which accelerate the beam to a final energy of 240 MeV.

The magnets listed in this contract are two dipoles for two of CLARA's spectrometer beamlines, used to measure the energy of the beam following acceleration. Each of these will bend a high-energy beam through 30°.

The Contract duration shall be for a period of 6 months from commencement of the Contract.

As part of the strategic alliance between UK Shared Business Services (UK SBS) and Crown Commercial Service (CCS), UK SBS can use the CCS eSourcing Suite for future procurements.

Once you have registered on the eSourcing Suite, a registered user can express an interest for a specific procurement. This is done by emailing ExpressionOfInterest@crowncommercial.gov.uk.

Your email must clearly state: the name and reference for the procurement you wish to register for; the name of the registered Bidder; and the name and contact details for the registered individual sending the email.

Crown Commercial Service will process the email and then enable the bidder to access the procurement online via the e-Sourcing Suite. The registered user will receive a notification email to alert them once this has been done.

The Sourcing documents can then be assessed on the eSourcing Suite at: https://gpsesourcing.cabinetoffice.gov.uk using the instructions detailed in the Specification documents with Contracts Finder.
