description

The overarching aim of this project is to address the issue of arable cultivation on selected Scheduled Monuments with a view to recommending removal of those monuments from Historic England's Heritage at Risk register. For some monuments, there may be few deposits surviving and those that do may have only little significance. In these cases, there may be a rationale for considering them to be at a lower level of risk or as candidates suitable for full excavation of the remaining deposits. The outcomes of the project will therefore include a method for determining the level of monument survival and for assessing the results with a view to removing sites from the register.
