description
Uttlesford District Council is seeking to appoint one contractor to take prime contractual responsibility for the provision of Minor Civil Engineering Works and ad hoc repairs within the district. The contract will involve the maintenance and planned works of surfaced areas, including elements of fencing, drainage, signage and disabled adaptations associated with the works. There will also be a small element of emergency works when required. Additionally, a number of new hard standing’s are constructed annually and involve consultation with the Highways authorities and public utility providers. Planning permission is also required for some works and close detail to regulations stipulated by the Council’s Planning department is required. All works must be constructed to current standards and the relevant Health & Safety procedures must be adhered to.
It is proposed that the successful contractor be appointed on the basis of the Cabinet Office model conditions of contract which have been tailored to this requirement and are provided for your information. The works in each individual property to be known as a “specific contract” shall be carried out under a JCT Minor Works contract with Contractors Design (MWD2011). The contract shall be for an initial period of 4 years, with options to extend by 24 months subject to satisfactory performance.
