The Council requires a supplier for the electrical installation of lighting features for the Glow Festival being held in Southside Business Improvement District (BID). The festival includes a series of light features across the Southside BID district encouraging visitors to follow a trail.

This project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Birmingham has been granted funding under the ERDF Welcome Back Fund to support the safe reopening of high streets and other commercial areas. The money will allow Birmingham to put in place additional measures to establish a safe trading environment for businesses and customers, particularly in high streets.

The installation must take place between 13 September 2021 and 24 September 2021.

The successful provider will install the following lighting structures in Southside BID District:

  • oMulti coloured string lighting - festoon lights to illuminate shop fronts and businesses with LED along (electrical power connection will be from local supplies in accordance with electrical safety standards):
  • oLower Hurst Street
  • oHurst Street
  • oBromsgrove Street & Kent Street Corner
  • oStation Street - Dudley Street
  • oSmallbrook Queensway and Theatre approach
  • oLight tree and red spheres - outside Hippodrome Theatre
  • oConstruction of 8m LED tree outside theatre (connection of mains power from existing lighting supply - ballast for tree sand bags will be required)
  • oConnection of red LED spheres in trees on Hurst Street
  • oErection of 3 neon signs on Dudley St/Kent St/Bristol St (electrical power connection from local supplies in accordance with electrical safety standards)
  • oTree lights - Smallbrook Queensway
  • oConnection of LED lighting to 19 trees along Smallbrook Queensway
