description
This project aims to explore, through accounts of people from black, mixed and GRT communities and their families, what barriers to accessing ASC they have faced, specifically drawing out the experiences of people around ASC assessments, including carer assessments. This will include examining reasons why participants have not had ASC assessments when they have been eligible, as well as how the experience has gone for the participants who have had them, to identify what is working well and what could be improved.
Furthermore, the project aims to understand how best to mobilise the insight gained in order to address persistent barriers in accessing care for people from the ethnic backgrounds. The project aims to communicate this knowledge (what barriers lead to access inequalities and what best practice looks like) in a format where ASC staff can clearly take learning from it and utilise recommendations to ensure the information conveyed leads to action.
