Construction of Large Teaching Space

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Contractors, for the provision of the Large Teaching Space (LTS) for FCO's Diplomatic Academy. The Diplomatic Academy offers an extensive and wide-reaching array of academic and operation-specific courses for the FCO.

The LTS would represent an ambitious and innovative use of a currently dead space, enabling comfortable seating for between 70 and 100 people in a theatre style, and the flexibility to use the space for a range of different functions, and in a variety of different configurations, ranging from a traditional lecture, to a Teaching Space for 35 - 40 with circular tables.

The flagship structure would add impact and credibility to the Diplomatic Academy's offering, both the staff and external stakeholders. The LTS will be put to numerous uses, including for the delivery of the Academy's curriculum, to host external guests, as a venue at which to host larger events, as well as being made available for other events across the FCO, and potentially as a hireable space to other government departments and other appropriate users.
