Brief Description of Requirement
Introduction
Admirals and Giants buildings are accommodation facilities located at the British Antarctic Survey's (BAS) Rothera research station in Antarctica. Due to the buildings' age, they currently have no fire suppression equipment fitted. The British Antarctic Survey management team have directed that fire suppression systems should be retro-fitted to these buildings in order to increase the levels of property protection and improve business continuity resilience such key research activity is not interrupted by the potential loss of this critical infrastructure to fire.
Aims & Objectives
A fire suppression system is required to protect 2 in no. Accommodation buildings within the Rothera Research station estate, located on the Antarctic peninsula. The main limitation of any system proposal for this project is availability of space within the existing buildings, for both plant and water storage. With that in mind, BAS specifically require a water mist suppression system in order to reduce water storage requirements as far as possible.
The requirements for this project are to design and supply a water mist fire suppression system for Giants and Admirals buildings. Due to the remote location of this project, the system will be installed by BAS engineering staff, therefore any proposed supplier must be prepared to provide suitable specialist installation and commissioning training to BAS personnel, as well as ongoing technical support.
Please ensure you review all attached information to ensure a full understanding of this requirement. All attachments can be found with the RFx attachments tab within the Emptoris System.
This contract will be awarded based on the evaluation criteria set out in the ITQ document.
