description

Cefas is a multidisciplinary scientific research and consultancy centre, employing over 500 staff, delivering solutions to meet the diverse needs of public and private sector businesses and organisations active in marine, coastal, estuarine and freshwater environments. Cefas is seeking an operator to acquire imagery in these areas to support the statutory montoring plans. Survey areas require image collection at different intervals, as detailed in the attached RFQ.

Cefas supports the construction of Hinkley Point C nuclear power station (HPC) by using Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) to carry out aerial monitoring. The monitoring forms part of statutory monitoring plans and covers a number of areas:

a)changes to gravel transport along the coast from west of the HPC costruction site to Stolford Bay;

b)changes to the rock platform and drainage around the temporary jetty;

c)changes to areas of dense Corallina algae which form in cross-shore drainage features (known as "waterfalls") around the jetty constuction area;

d)changes to artificial bunded reservoirs which have been built to manage drainage over the Corallina waterfalls.

e)changes to Sabellaria (tube-building worm) communities near the Old Dry Dock which could be affected by water discharges from Outlet 1 and a control area near the temporary jetty;

f)changes to intertidal banks of the river Parrett near Combwich which could arise from the refurbishment and operation of Combwich Wharf.
