Upgrade and Refurbishment of Discharge Lounge and Ambulance Crew Facilities at Croydon University Hospital - CHS16-029

The ED Transport lounge now occupies one of the X-Ray suits and it is required to undertake works in order to increase patient capacity within the existing London Wing Discharge Lounge to enable the relocation of the ED Transport lounge service from the X-Ray suit to the London Wing Discharge Lounge. The brief for the proposed works include the following: The provision of a new 3-person Transport office to be located in the dis-used chaplaincy office adjacent. The provision of new crew changing and mess room to be located in the disused Chaplaincy office. The provision of new patient changing facilities and accessible WC within the existing male WC area. Works to the existing London Wing Transport Lounge to provide additional patient waiting, Managers office and pantry facilities. Total number of patient waiting chairs required-25. The provision of new wheel chair waiting facilities. Total number of wheel chair positions required-10. BUILDING WORKS Conversion of existing male WC into Accessible WC and changing facility. Including new entrance door set and blocking up of existing door entrance from corridor. Fit-out of existing room to form new 3 person office. Provision of new partition wall and entrance in existing chaplaincy office to form two new areas; 1. Ambulance drivers mess. 2. Discharge lounge pantry. Fit-out of both new rooms ti suit. Removal of existing full height wall and pantry in existing discharge lounge. Provision of new low level partition wall in existing discharge lounge to separate wheel chair user area. Making good and re-decoration to existing floors walls and ceilings. Re-decorations to existing accessible wc area. ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Provision of new lighting fittings to all areas. New small power outlets as indicated on the design drawings. New data and voice outlets as indicated on the design drawings. New Nurse call and Disabled WC call systems as indicated on the design drawings. New CCTV camera, linked into existing system. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING Removal of two existing radiators Provision of new direct expansion cooling system, ceiling mounted cassette. Provision of new hot and cold water services to two new sink units. Relocation of hot and cold water services to new accessible WC and changing facility with thermostatic controls. Provision of new hot and cold water services to two new wash hand basin, IP units and thermostatic controls. Provision of new extract ventilation to ambulance drivers mess, Pantry and Accessible WC and changing facility. Provision of new radiator heating to discharge lounge. Adaptations to existing above ground drainage to suit revised locations. PRELIMINARIES AND GENERAL ITEMS Commissioning Testing Provision of record drawings and Operating manuals.
