DUD - Design & Construction of 2 Nursery Units in 'Off-Site' or Modular Style Construction

Dudley MBC’s Corporate Landlord Services are inviting tenders from suitably experienced Contractors to design and construct a single storey purpose built unit in ‘off-site construction’ or modular style construction to accommodate early years children under the ‘time 4 two’s’ funding scheme.

The project will deliver a single storey unit at two separate school sites in the Dudley borough. Each building will consist of 2nr early years/nursery areas, kitchen, toilets (including accessible toilet), baby change, office and reception area along with external covered play areas. The overall floor area of each building is envisaged to be around 150m2.

The Contractor must appreciate and be sensitive to the woodland/park surroundings to both buildings and the Client has intimated a desire to consider natural timber materials to the external envelope which are sympathetic to the surroundings.

Dudley MBC will be responsible for obtaining relevant planning permission. The successful Contractor will be responsible for obtaining building regulation approval, building control completion certificate and any amendment required to the planning approval.

The estimated total contract value for both buildings is estimated to be in the region of £500,000.

It is essential that the construction of these buildings is completed before September 2016 to ensure that the new intake of children can be accommodated.

Interested Contractors will be required to complete and submit an Expression of Interest document which will be scored by a panel of representatives to determine if they will be included on the tender list.

It is anticipated that a total of 6 Contractors will be invited to tender for this scheme.

Dudley MBC is PAS 91 compliant and will be utilising the PAS 91 questionnaire for this restricted procedure.

PAS 91 is a standardised selection criteria questionnaire which has been developed to reduce the need for contractors to complete a variety of different questionnaires for different, and in some cases, the same clients. Developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI), the question set has been commissioned by Government and is a recommended common minimum standard for construction procurement.
