Neston Economic Plan - Consultancy

The call for greater clarity on how best to support the local economy in Neston has been generated by the Town Council. There is a sense that Neston can do better, but in order to bring about change to secure greater economic benefits for the town a clear overview based on evidence needs to be taken on the specific actions needed to unlock opportunities. Having in place an Economic Plan that is realistic but also articulates and considers radical alternatives will help to do this. Neston, alongside countless many other market towns in the UK faces a number of challenges in attempting to retain a sustainable economic function. Numerous studies, research and community engagement work has been targeted at Market Towns, the culmination of this work points to there being no off the shelf solution to addressing the challenges and issues they face. Each Market Town therefore has its own unique issues that will require a different mix of approaches in trying to address them. The study should consider to what extent defining Neston as a Market Town reflects its current role and whether its designation as part of the Rural and Market Towns area of Cheshire West and Chester Council affects its economic development.
