Brief description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Risk and Insurance Lead.
Reporting to the Audit Services Business Partner - Risk and Insurance, the post-holder will be jointly responsible for the following:
- providing advice and guidance to service areas across the council regarding risk assessments and the review of risk registers.
- providing advice on insurance matters and in particular on insurance levels within contracts.
- assisting with the handling of MP and councillor enquiries and claims for compensation.
The post therefore requires extensive experience in the area of providing advice and guidance in risk management processes and procedures. The successful candidate will also need detailed knowledge and experience of insurance requirements and the handling of claims for compensation within a public-sector environment.
We are looking for someone with at least 5 years' experience in a management position with significant experience of complex insurance claims at a senior level.
The role requires:
- oSuccessfully implementing performance management, quality assurance and continuous improvement processes.
- oHandling and leading organisational change
- oManagement/ monitoring of service level-agreements and external contracts.
- oManagement of finance, staff and other resources.
- oImplementing and monitoring new initiatives and ways of working to achieve agreed objectives.
- oLeading and managing a specialist team through complex and continuous change.
- oUnderstanding complex control systems and preparation of complex reports.
- oExtensive and current knowledge of the legislation relating to insurance claims and investigations.
A qualification in Professional Risk or Insurance is required (e.g. Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute or Institute of Risk Management).

This role falls inside of IR35.
