Objectives of the project are to:
| - | Reduce the risk of flooding to people, property & business in the Bridge End and Tyne Mills Industrial Estates, and surrounding areas. |
| - | Deliver value for money by identifying a technically feasible option that provides best possible economic standard of protection for managing flood risk that is resilient and adaptive to climate change. |
| - | Contribute to the national Outcome Measure targets for value, flood risk and environmental benefits |
| - | Deliver an option to address flood risk which creates a better place, maximises environmental outcomes for people and wildlife, protects existing business activity, relieves blight and supports increased economic growth in this area. |
| - | Maximise efficiency savings and contribute to EA efficiency targets. |
| - | Minimise and mitigate any adverse impacts from a health, safety and environmental perspective that may result from the project. |
