description
As part of our HLF, CCF & SLDC funded programme, Morecambe Bay Partnership wishes to appoint a consultant or consultants to work with local businesses, users and stakeholders, to research, develop, set up, launch, market and promote a series of high quality fully accessible routes for the Morecambe Bay area including a network of Trampers (or similar).
These new routes and Tramper facilities will open up parts of Morecambe Bay to a wider range of users allowing the discovery and exploration of the rich cultural and environmental heritage of the area. The hosting of Trampers also presents a potential business or social enterprise opportunity for local cafes, cycle hire, accommodation or attraction providers in the area.
The implementation of these new routes will support the delivery of Morecambe Bay Partnership’s programmes , which aims to protect and celebrate the unique heritage of the Bay and make it more accessible to new audiences and encourage more visitors to the Bay who stay longer and repeat their visits, thus providing benefits to the local economy and our communities.
The project seeks to secure:
| • | a minimum of five circular walking and/or shared use routes that are accessible to all users but particularly those with disabilities or visual impairments (“miles without stiles”). Ideally we wish the routes to offer multisensory experience with sounds and smell of the sea or a sense of wildness with seabird calls etc. |
| • | in addition, out of these five routes, a minimum of 2-3 circular Tramper routes enabling visitors who need mobility support to get out into the countryside to experience the amazing views, landscapes and heritage sites that Morecambe Bay has to offer. |
| • | the provision of a 3 -6 Trampers around the Bay hosted by businesses or social enterprises from where the Tramper routes will begin. |
