description

This project focuses on a length of the River Irwell between the towns of Bury and Radcliffe to the north of Manchester. A plan of the area is included in Appendix A.

In the absence of any formal flood defences, this area was severely affected by the floods on 26th December 2015, with widespread flood damage to hundreds of properties, businesses and key infrastructure. It is estimated that over 700 residential and 167 commercial properties were affected.
