description

The Financial Services Survey (FSS) has been identified by the National Accounts area within ONS as the key data source for the following economic statistics relating to the other financial institutions (OFIs) institutional sector:

  • GNI and GDP estimates;
  • asset and liability levels (the Flow of Funds); and,
  • a variety of other asset/liability returns - Bank of England shadow banking estimates, the G20 Data Gaps Initiative, the IMF Special Data Dissemination Standards (SDDS+) and the Financial Stability Board OFIs and MUNFIs (Monitoring the Universe of Non-bank Financial Intermediation).

ONS has committed to estimating these data to the highest possible standard, and in the case of GNI has a Eurostat action point to improve the estimates.
