description

Green Finance seek research on the information requirements for nature markets. Green Finance Division stimulated a range of market-based nature financing schemes, that allow industry to stand up schemes that channel private finance to nature recovery - alongside Defra grant awards.

Defra seek to build evidence through data analysis research, to consider routes for a Green Finance Registry that brings together funding and environmental outcomes information from existing schemes and provides the service for compliance teams to manage double-funding risk. Interoperable market infrastructure was recognised as a risk for establishing Green Finance markets. We also committed to provide a policy update on market infrastructure, in Summer 2024 - this work will inform policy principles for market infrastructure.
