The Care Act 2014 contains an explicit duty to offer information and advice and specifically requires provision of information on how to access independent financial advice on matters relevant to the meeting of needs for care and support Nottinghamshire County Council is seeking a single Provider to whom self-funders can be referred for information and advice. The Service should be available to all self-funders within the County (excluding Nottingham City), including those who refer themselves. The Service will include: · Independent financial advice including advice on personal contributions, statutory and other support · The options available to help pay for care, including Deferred Payment Agreements, financial solutions and other ways to use property and the matters that should be considered, including seeking regulated financial advice · Access to named, qualified and accredited financial advisers who can provide regulated financial advice associated with care funding (whilst making clear that other advisers are available) · Access to alternative types of regulated financial advice, such as pensions and investments advice · The implications of running out of money · Legal matters such as arranging a Power of Attorney and wills · Eligibility rules and tariff income calculations, property disregards and threshold limits The different types of care, associated costs and how to arrange them
