description
SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF THREE INDUSTRIAL COLLABORATIVE ROBOTS (ESIF FUNDED) - REFERENCE: SC6838/18
This project is funded by the European Structural Investment Funds (ESIF) and the procurement is dependent on the final funding agreement.
The University of Birmingham invites tenders for supply of three collaborative robots. The three robots will form facilities created as part of the ESIF project, which will be used to facilitate/support the take-up of high impact automation technologies by the SMEs in West Midlands. In this context, the robots will be used to develop new applications in collaboration with technology providers and carry out feasibility studies and pilot projects to address the specific requirements of local SMEs. Therefore, it will be required as part of the project to build strong partnerships with the technology providers and define a joint co-funded R&D programme for the benefits of local businesses.
The robots should be able to deliver motion planning and execution with high accuracy and repeatability, as well as a safe collaborative environment. Payload and reachability should be sufficient for handling a range of mechanical components, i.e. brake callipers, turbo chargers and engine subassemblies. The robots should allow multiple levels of safety configurations including environment awareness and impact-free collision detection. The robots should support common communication protocols for the integrations of customised end-effectors and safety devices. Software tools and instructions should be incorporated for programming, configuration and operation.
Overall budget for this item is up to £215,000.00 excluding VAT
