Wigan Borough in Bloom Programme 2018 - 2022

Wigan in Bloom Services Framework - The planting and reactive / routine maintenance of containers of various sizes located throughout the Wigan Borough. The visual impact of the containers is of key importance to the programme. The framework will be single provider for a period of 4 years. Additional information: Wigan Council has taken part in the Royal Horticultural Society's North West in Bloom competition for over ten years. In the past six years, Wigan Council, supported by our communities, has collected over 100 North West in Bloom awards. These awards were for community-led, neighbourhood or town entries, as well as the corporate, borough wide entry. Wigan Council has been the Large City/Metropolitan Borough Council category winner numerous times. In 2017 the judges were impressed with the standard of cleanliness and lack of litter and strong links with volunteers. They also commented that locations were well maintained, with numerous colour displays for all locals and visitors to enjoy. The Council is looking to set up a single provider framework for the supply and maintenance of various containers of plants for display throughout the borough. The provider will need to liaise with the Council and local community groups & businesses to ensure that the service is giving the impact required.
