description

The Town Council is seeking an indication of costs to inform their decision to provide an improved all weather surface to a section of footpath on the sea wall along part of the River Crouch and Fenn Creek near South Woodham Ferrers in Essex.

Additional information: South Woodham Ferrers is bordered to the South by the River Crouch and is protected from flooding by a sea wall embankment. A public footpath runs along the top of the embankment and this becomes extremely muddy and boggy during the winter months. In 2013 the Town Council carried out a project to improve a 1.2km stretch of the path to the East of the town, providing an all weather surface and are now considering a similar project to the West of the town.

Tender prices received will assist the Council in its decision to proceed process. A draft contract and specification is included with this notice.

Interested parties are advised to visit the site as access to the work is difficult being limited to one end of the path and the area of the path itself. There is fairly steep slope at the western end of the path where it joins Inchbonnie Road and the Council would like this to be built to comply with current DDA regulations. The area is also of considerable ecological value. The full extent of the work would be approximately 1.1km.

The site is a public open space and can be viewed at any time and accessed from a car park at the end of Marsh Farm Road.
