description
Worcestershire County Council (the Council) would like to invite interested organisations to attend a virtual engagement session around the possible future delivery of services to support drug and alcohol treatment and recovery across Worcestershire.
In December 2021, the government published a 10-year drugs plan, 'From Harm to Hope', which committed to additional funding in England up to 2025.
As a result, the Council received funding via the Supplemental Substance Misuse Treatment and Recovery Grant (SSMTRG) and the Rough Sleeping Drug and Alcohol Treatment Grant (RSDATG) to deliver a number of initiatives across the county that supported and enhanced substance misuse services. This included a focus on:
- oIncreasing treatment capacity, including residential treatment
- oHarm reduction outreach
- oEnhancing recovery support
- oPsychological support
- oCounselling
Although it is yet to be confirmed by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, it is likely that grant funding will be extended to 2025-26. The Council would therefore like at this tentative stage in the development of proposals, and prior to formulating of any formal opportunities, to inform the market of our commissioning intentions and to consult on the content of service specifications.
Any future commissioning activity will be subject to the availability of grant funding and local and national approval. Future procurement activity will be considered in accordance with Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.
The Council intends to hold a virtual open information and feedback session for all interested organisations on:
Wednesday 18th December 2024 12.30pm - 1.30pm Virtual Meeting via Microsoft Teams
This event will be recorded and made available afterwards along with all PowerPoint Slides.
