description

The MCA intends trailing the use of drone platforms within HM Coastguard's normal area of responsibility and they will be deployed from scene for the purposes of supporting the delivery of our functions. These drone platforms must be suitable for Emergency Service usage.

It has been widely proven in the Emergency Services across the world that operational drone use is an extremely cost-effective method of increasing operational safety and increased situational awareness whilst also saving lives.

Two Coastguard Rescue Service (CRS) teams will take part in the trial and the results of this trial will help to inform future requirements should the concept of operational drone use be approved.

The following framework was used for this contract YPO 992 - Drones and Associated Products and Services Lot 1: Category G - SPECIALIST DRONE FOR USE IN HAZARDOUS ENVIRONMENT
