The Health and Social Care Information Centre has strategic objectives for:

•Promoting trust through secure and interoperable Services; and being

•A high-performing organisation with an international reputation

Working towards and achieving appropriate ISO certifications for management systems are seen by the HSCIC Board as supporting and assuring this duty and these objectives as well as providing independent validation that our processes are under control.

The Executive Management Team has made a commitment that all HSCIC directorates will be certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 by 31st March 2017. Two teams within the Architecture, Standards and Innovation directorate have already achieved certification. Certificates are awarded for a three year period and in order to maintain certification, areas within its scope must undergo surveillance visits every six months, currently scheduled in February and August each calendar year.
