Greater Manchester Combined GMCA are seeking proposals from suitably qualified providers for the provision of:- Rest Facilities for Firefighters which meets the following Output Specification:- Output Specification requirements for Rest Facility for Firefighters

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) are looking to replace the current rest facility provided for use on Whole time fire stations. These rest facilities are utilised by operational fire crews during the allocated rest period of the night shift.

1.	Will meet the 122 PUWER 1998 Approved Code of Practice and guidance
2.	Will meet the 124 Workplace regulations 1992 Approved Code of Practice and guidance
3.	Will fully meet the requirements of BS 7177:2008+A1:2011
4.	Will be fit for purpose for up to 7 hours continuous use
5.	Will be appropriate for all of our workforce, regardless of age, gender, body size or body shape, working opposing shift patterns
6.	Will be easy to maintain
7.	Will be easy to clean
8.	Will be operable by one person
9.	Will be robust in relation to points 3 - 7
10.	Will require very little training to use
11.	Will be provided with a manufacturer's warranty

Following a market engagement event in August 2019, GMFRS considered a number of possible types of options/solutions and decided that the use of beds would best meet our requirements for the Rest Facilities. Due to the varying availability of space on Fire Station premises, it was decided that 2 bed types would be required; 1) Fixed freestanding metal based bed, 2) Foldable bed. There will be an initial requirement for approximately 240 beds which will be a mixture of both option 1 and option 2, however exact numbers of each are not yet known.
