Provision of Searider Boarding Procedures Training

MMO officers conduct boardings of fishing vessels at sea. This involves transferring from a Rigid Inflatable Boat onto the vessel. There are particular health and safety risks associated with this activity, which are not covered in generic RIB training, such as RYA Powerboat Level II. In 2013 the MMO procured training, that was bespoke to the specific health and safety requirements of this activity and was independently accredited. Since these courses were initially run, more officers now require this training.
