Teaching for Mastery is an approach to learning maths which is being promoted in primary and secondary schools in projects commissioned by the Department for Education. The model comes from success in Shanghai and outcomes in international tests e.g Pisa, and provides a different way of thinking about maths learning and which can provide a way of re-engaging young people in a GCSE resit situation.
