Parent / Carer Training Programme

Family centres deliver integrated services offering a variety of provision according to the needs of local families. Family Centres bring together practitioners from a range of universal, targeted and specialist services in each local area including schools, police, social care, private and voluntary sector and some adult services. We are currently developing a borough wide parenting strategy and we see this training package as a route through which we can provide the skills to the workforce to deliver a co-ordinated package of support to families on a tiered basis across the broader age range. To enable us to effectively meet the needs of our expanded 0-19 (25 years with a disability) age range we require a package of train the trainer training to be delivered to our 37 family support workers that will enable each delegate to deliver evidence based parent/carer education programmes to meet the needs of the age range. The training should also enable the delivery of interventions to focussed and targeted groups in particular parents/carers of teenagers and parents/carers of children or young people with special educational needs or disabilities.
