description
The provision will be available to assist any and all pre and post Work Programme customers in receipt of benefits (including Universal Credit) who would benefit from the motivational and practical support offered.
The aims of the provision are:
- to challenge claimants benefit dependency – identify why individual claimants are reliant on welfare benefits and empower them to ‘break through’ the barriers of entrenched worklessness;
- to increase claimants motivation and confidence levels and raise self-esteem – identify and promote positive traits about individual claimants;
- to inspire claimants to make ‘lifestyle’ changes – create a bespoke ‘road map’ that sets out realistic and achievable goals;
- to improve the immediate job prospects of all participating claimants;
- to increase employability by developing effective workplace behaviours, attitudes and “soft skills”, i.e. the qualities, attitudes and behaviours employers look for in potential recruits;
- to enable claimants who do not find jobs immediately to be better prepared and aware of the Get Britain Working measures and local non-contracted provision to make an appropriate choice of support to assist them back into the workplace;
- to support claimants with their basic digital skills and provide them with the skills to undertake digital jobsearch;
- to support claimants with money related issues, including financial benefits to working, financial capability, in work benefits (including ‘better off’ calculations), and debt management.
