description
This work package is for the 2 Stage Design and Build Works to effect the permanent repair of Middleton Hall Bridge. Stage One - Design will be a NEC3 ECC Option C Target Cost Contract. Stage Two - Build will be an NEC3 ECC Option A Fixed Price Contract. Following the 2015 floods the bridge was closed due to collapse at the downstream portal, a temporary bridge with localised resurfacing had been installed to reopen the road to traffic. Owing to further deterioration through 2016 temporary stabilisation of the damaged areas was carried out in October and November 2016. As part of these works a 4m3 fibre reinforced mass concrete block and drainage gully where installed to stabilise the downstream (north west) abutment and grout bags where installed under the north and south abutments to underpin the undermined sections. Following the temporary protection measures a scheme is required to replace the existing structure, this will require completion of the replacement design in time for in river construction works to be completed between 16th June 2018 and 31st September 2018. The replacement structure should be designed to carry an assessed load of C&U 40/44t. The existing structure is to be demolished and any materials to be used in the new structure should be stored for re-use. The contractor is to undertake the design of a single span structure to conform with DMRB design standards with a 120 year design life. Following completion of the design the contractor should obtain all necessary technical approvals, permits and agreements to undertake the installation of the new structure. The successful Contractor will assume the role and responsibility of Principal Designer & Principal Contractor as defined under CDM 2015 and mature technical appraisals to detailed design for approval by CCC before execution & delivery. Awarded via the Capital Schemes Framework
