Background & Purpose

This project aims to establish the presence or absence of the White-clawed crayfish, Signal crayfish, and crayfish plague at 91 sites across England (locations in spreadsheet attached).

Surveys will be undertaken for a variety of reasons depending on site and catchment, including:

to verify historic White-clawed crayfish records
to test for presence of Signal crayfish and crayfish plague
to survey Ark sites to confirm success of introductions
to identify new Arc sites for translocation of White-clawed crayfish
