description
Dorset County Council is seeking expressions of interest in respect of a construction project for Highcliffe St Mark Primary School, Greenways, Highcliffe, Christchurch, Dorset, BH23 5AZ. Highcliffe St Mark Primary School is located on single site and was established approximately 9 years ago by the merger of the former Infant and Junior Schools. The School is housed in two buildings, one the former Infant School (SCOLA Building) which houses Reception and Year 1 students and the former Junior School which houses Year 2 to Year 6 students in addition to the main Hall and ICT provision. An open air swimming pool and associated facilities are located between the two buildings and a Pre School is situated in the north-west corner of the site. The School currently operates as a 2FE Primary School, however, due to increasing demand in Christchurch additional accommodation is required at Highcliffe St Mark School. Therefore the intention is extend and adapt the existing facilities so that the School can operate as 3 FE Primary School from September 2016. The proposals comprise a two storey steal framed extension located to the north of the former Infant School building, to which it will be linked, and to the side of the swimming pool. The extension will contain three class bases at ground floor level, Food Technology, Learning Resources, Studio and a Preparation Area at first floor level, together with associated stores, cloaks and toilets. The project also includes internal alterations to both existing buildings, improvements to the car parking and landscaping works which will have to be undertaken during the School's 2016 summer holiday. The current proposal is to appoint a Main Contractor in November 2015 and commence works in December 2015 with completion required in August 2016. Expressions of interest are invited from suitable Contractors with experience of working within a restricted site area in the centre of the School which will be fully occupied throughout the construction period. They must also be able to deliver a complex project within a tight timeframe whilst ensuring the Health and Safety of the children, staff and visitors to the School as well as controlling deliveries etc. Contractors are required to provide evidence to demonstrate their experience within this environment.
