description

Wigan and Leigh Homes are inviting Expressions of Interest to carry out the extension and refurbishment to sheltered housing accommodation at Withington Grange, New Springs, Wigan. The works will see 31 flats remodelled internally; 23 of the flats will be extended whilst 8 of the flats will be remodelled only.

Sheltered housing is a key part of the service provided to older people by Wigan and Leigh Homes that will sit alongside future 'Extra Care' provision within both the private and social sector. The sheltered stock needs to be ready to meet future challenges and be of a suitable quality that can flex in line with developing care and support priorities to ensure future viability.

In line with our Business Plan and 30 Year Asset Management Strategy priorities we are committed to deliver investment that supports Wigan Council's integrated Adult Social Care, Health and Housing Strategy (Live Well, Age Well) proposals. The Plan will deliver suitable adaptable accommodation to meet the longer term needs of older people to ensure that they can sustain independent living and maintain health and wellbeing within the community for as long as possible. The Withington Grange Extension and Refurbishment scheme is the first that is being tackled as part of the priorities under the Plan.

The closing date for Expressions of Interest is Friday 21st August 2015 at 17:00. Those submitting Expressions of Interest will need to complete and return their answers to a set of pre-qualifying questions.

Contract start and end dates shown within this notice are indicative only.
