description
The Pension Fund Investment and Administration Panel (“the Panel”) wishes to consider investing in one or more diversified alternatives funds as part of an overall desire to further diversify the Fund’s exposure to growth assets. The Panel will only consider segregated mandates and the total investment to be made is expected to be approximately £100million.
Additional information: Mandate characteristics
The Fund is seeking to appoint a provider to manage a diversified portfolio of alternative assets. The key mandate parameters are as follows:
| • | A mandate size of approximately £100m |
| • | Providers using a multi-manager fund of fund approach, internally managed funds or a combination of the two will be considered. |
| • | Because there will be client-specific portfolio guideline limits applied, only segregated solutions will be considered. |
| • | The benchmark and performance objective will be LIBOR +3-5% p.a. with a volatility of approximately two thirds that of equities. |
| • | Managers and their investment strategies will need to be able to comply with appropriate LGPS regulations. |
| • | Applicants must be able to gain exposure to a broad range of alternative asset classes on a global basis. |
| • | The portfolio would be expected to include a number of the following asset classes, although it will not be limited to these categories: Active Currency, Commodities, Emerging Market Debt, GTAA, Hedge Funds, High Yield Bonds, Infrastructure, Insurance-linked Securities, Private Equity, Property, Timberland & Agriculture. |
The Council reserves the right to alter the value of funds awarded and may split the contract among providers.
