description
Any Qualified Provider (AQP) for Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Step 2 & Step 3 for NHS Camden CCG & Camden Council – Second round.
NHS Camden Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) in partnership with Camden Council wish to commission Psychological Therapies Services for Adults (18+) in line with national guidance and local requirements from suitably qualified healthcare providers.
Camden Clinical Commissioning Group is a new organisation set up, as others were across the country, under the Health and Social Care Act 2012. As a Clinical Commissioning Group it is an independent statutory body, governed by its 39 member GP practices.
The Clinical Commissioning Group has control of the local health budget and buys local healthcare on behalf of the local population.
Camden Clinical Commissioning Group has 5 programmes to tackle local health priorities:
| • | Childrens services |
| • | Mental health |
| • | Community and primary care services |
| • | Older peoples services |
| • | Prevention of CVD, cancer and respiratory disease |
NHS Camden CCG is committed to ensuring appropriate access to evidence-based psychological therapies in the borough and is opening up this additional AQP qualification round to provide ‘Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services’. This is a repeat window of opportunity that allows additional service providers to join the existing Any Qualified Provider list (the AQP service providers’ list for this service has been running since July 2014) and provide ‘Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services’.
Please note: The providers who are already on the existing AQP list do not need to re-apply.
As part of the Commissioners' plan to ensure maximum patient choice the CCG wishes to engage the services of multiple providers via an AQP process to provide Step 2 and / or Step 3 IAPT NICE compliant therapies. It should be noted that under the Any Qualified Provider model, there will be no guarantees of volume / activity and no financial guarantees.
Providers may work in partnership with other providers to provide the range of services specified. Details of the service to be provided are set out in the service specification.
The contract will be for a period of 12 months only to commence from 1 April 2016 – 31 March 2017. New service providers will add capacity to support the CCG to meet IAPT national targets. During 2015-16 AQP provision will enable an additional 1,911 people experiencing depression and anxiety to access psychological therapies. For 2016-17 there is likely to be a national target increase, but this is not currently known. Estimates suggests the figure will move from 15% of people in Camden entering IAPT treatment up to around 18% prevalence entering treatment (6600 people).
The proposed tariff for this service is included in the AQP documents as Document 3: Schedule 3 – Payment. Providers must confirm their acceptance of this tariff in their submissions.
