description

Highways England is looking to set up a contract for provision of services to undertake detailed data mining of air quality monitoring data collected alongside the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a, to establish whether the air quality trial interventions, which have operated along this stretch of the M1 in phases since November 2018 through to date, can be seen in the monitored NOx and NO2 concentrations. The analysis will also be informed by observed traffic flows and speeds along the same stretch of motorway. This analysis will build on previous work which considered the impact of the 60mph speed limit which had operated on this stretch to mitigate the impact of the smart motorway schemes.
